Dear,
Tomorrow is my celebration for your never dying encouragement in my studies. I wouldn't have been able to graduate within 4 years if it weren't for you. I gave myself a goal after listening to your advices, a goal that motivated me to work harder and complete my course within 4 years which was required for being eligible to get an honours. Although i couldn't achieve an honours, my goal found me my proud job today. This is an achievement that couldn't have been realised if you hadn't put your efforts in telling me i can do it. Congrats My Dearest Teacher! Your student made it le!
Congrats to my friends who also made it. And to those still working towards their goal, You can do it!
"Don't ever let anybody tell you what you cannot do...", what matters is that's what you wanna do and so you do a good job about it.

first post for 2007... in april.
o.g. to think that my last post was about christmas?! argh! Let's see...
Week 1 of attachment job (8 - 12 Jan): Decided that i've really wasted my life by getting lousy grades for uni application. architects are >>>>> than engineers. professor's words came true, "...you might be tested on your bending moment diagram...". thank goodness for my FYP, i had some practice.
Week 2 of attachment job (15 - 19 Jan): Foundation design. don't remember most of the formulae or rules. luckily Lai was a friendly engineer. and my "xi-fu" (kung-fu master).
Week 3 (22 - 26 Jan): Getting to know the engineers better. there are the 3 musketeers: Lai, Tan, and Cheque Chau. haha don ask me why his name's spelled like that, i dono. some of the younger engineers around. we all clubbed tgt twice. the receptionist koria was quite scary in the beginning, but actually she's a really nice lady. we share our office with our drafters too. all very motherly and fatherly. nice, cosy family working together closely.
Week 4 (29 - 2 Feb): So soon Jan was over. and cny was in 3 weeks time. cny mood lingering in the office and in town.
Week 5 - week 9: Learn to design flat slabs, beams, columns, etc. Learn to use programs like safe, topcad, c-sect, prokon, tedds, staadpro, etc. During cny period, big boss invited us to his place, it was an annual family gathering event, all the engineers' kids weren't even strangers to anybody.
Week 10 (12 - 16 Mar): IA ntu tutor came to check on us. it was a nerve-wrecking wait for the afternoon to come where he would "interview" us one-by-one. turns out we were thinking too much, he was super friendly and really just wanted to know how we were doing.
Week 11 and 12: Been doing pilecap design and making lots of errors. more geotech stuff to remember. should really start sending out resumes!!
At present: My 3-day week! haha! took leave so tmr's my final day of work this week. actually so i wouldn't be tired at night.
i was just told a school mate of mine just gave birth. yea no typo and not kidding. she was recently married to a chef. shit. that's like MY dream, marrying a chef! some people just get to fulfill their dreams of having a stable income and family so soon. Study like hell up til now still jobless, must make money, pay back the loan used for uni, by then still not enough money, only finally settling down when we're already very old.

on christmas
"cheeseburger, cheeseburger..." (sang as: jinglebells, jinglebells)
Christmas eve was fun. There was lots to eat at dinner and my appetite was tiny. i was looking forward to cakes but somehow i can't even finish one. i had the honour to watch king kong on a theatre screen-sized sony flat screen television. fantastic. equipped with complete sound system, all within a living room of an HDB flat. oh wait, and i must mention the christmas tree! pretty and practical. ;)
i was there til about 10:30pm, when the next part of the celebrations took us to st. james power station. joined by a few more friends, we followed the queue into power house. the place was a maze, parts of it were blocked from direct view, to me the place was triangular shaped, lousy thing is they have a very small dance floor, making it a habitat for posers, people who just stood around and drink, some find it not conducive to get into the grooving mood. in the midst of the clubbing, there were special appearances by some dancers, and of course what's christmas without santa? he was hanging high above the crowd and swinging round and round while scattering sweets down to us. it was quite funny actually. hahaha! the music? i tried to enjoy it. =P
man! i sure wished i hadn't been so soft-hearted on wednesday! why did i agree to go mambo that day? craziness. madness. outrageous. absolutely and horrifically absurd!! and the rain, pouring down mercilessly outside the shelter of zouk. where did all those people come from anyway... oh ya... i forgot that every year, there will be fresh blood coming into the world of night life. this really makes people feel old. it's soon for me to retire. haha. no more. no more.

two days to christmas! red, green, white. pine trees, holly, mistletoes (mr. toe). santa, rudolph, buddy the ELF. cheers!

sunny skies for me
clouds out my window.

just some pictures i took during my dreaded exam period, the beautiful sunny skies that shone through those darkened days. Now that it's over, life is brighter and even more colourful than ever. haha. p.s.: search Viva Pinata.
regarding why i'm going to be working in orchard soon, i'm going there for my attachment. it's located at the building just opposite of far east plaza.
