our DotA outing

teachers. initiation: jiahao. team/tactics training: keith. wendy... saves my life by asking me to run away. er... heh...

let me explain. this is me, playing DotA. the first time... and probably the last... unless i'm out with these group of friends again. my cheerobics people. the kiddies they are. i'm not the oldest but almost there. it was the night of our committee appreciation night, organised by our bosses, management up there. held at the NTU Alumni Clubhouse. also perched up on top of a hill, like ntu. the food was quite good actually. but we wanted more. bought drinks from the bar. super expensive, although beer on promotion. yuck. well, all in all, the event was lousy, just dinner and jam band.

and so same like the last time, they were all set to go play dota in some lan shop outside. and i was finally convinced to join in. no matter how noob i was. well, only problem was there was only one car... and 8 people were going. so it turned out like this...

only less than half of cheerobics.

please pardon our dear friend in the front as there wasn't anymore space for him to shift backwards. lol. mind you, the car isn't as big as it seems. we have some petit girls, lucky.

me with my friends =)

Friday evening. attended cheerobics friend's birthday celebration at sembawang country club. the babe, cassandra. i took the cab down cuz i missed the feeder bus and met a taxi uncle who wasn't sure where the country club was! it was so awkward, afraid we might end up at the wrong place. i told him roughly where it was just as cass had told me on the phone, and he actually made a call to his friend just to make sure! haha. luckily he was right. if not i wouldn't know which country club i'd end up in! The party was nice, the ballroom was small but adequate. the buffet food not bad too! and laksa was yummy!

and then after having their tummies filled, the guys got bored. unfortunately, our larry didn't bring his deck of cards that was supposed to be on him all the time, being our magician. so they started asking the waiters for cards and such. haha! suddenly, we had dice. it came in 5 dice and the cup. were we going to do the "shuang tian zhi zun?" (the unbeatables) nope! let's say it's more like "pirates of the caribbean", the game that was played among davy jones, will turner and his father. 'Liar's Dice'. guessing the amount of a number on the dice, then trying to outdo the previous guess without being called a 'Liar'. i so dono how to play lor... LOL and i still don't get the part of who wins even after both had lied... maybe the one with closest guess??

all these rubbish friends... went to lan shop play Dota after the dinner. how can i not start playing too? i'm starting to doubt about myself... and my principles. a part of me regretted not going ahead with them. they even offered to teach! haha ultra NOOB!

Saturday evening. JC choir outing. only 5 people can! but ironically, its more than the usual already. haha. i've missed those embarrassing times in SR Voce. we dined at the sizzling pepper lunch. and zhiyong (bass section, treasurer in main comm) was condemned the moment he told us lydia (soprano, president of SR Voce) injured her leg but still asked her to come out. soooo happy to see my er zi (son) again after sooooo long! she (not typo ah) yes she is prettier now that she knows more about grooming herself. woah.... still very chinesefied but that's what makes her my dearest hui fen (alto, ey ey! also treasurer). ya... both treasurer... got scandal one. long story. anyway, next is my fellow sectional leader victoria. and of course, yours truly, me, proud soprano or if u must, soprano ONE (aka sing the highest notes) ok ok maybe no longer la, screech yes, and also welfare(!!!) of the main committee. take money from huifen and zhiyong to buy present for bday people. those were the days~~~

zhiyong, victoria, lydia, huifen, me.

mooncake falls apart

i miss hall activities. hall 16 is too new a hall to have much interesting activities. but i was already too (spiritually) attached to hall 12 to begin with anyways. haha. so not surprisingly, seizing the chance last night, i went down for the hall 12 mooncake festival celebration. luckily the people i know were also around so i could stay with them, instead of standing out like a martian from the red planet.

funny stuff has taken over now in that hall, haha, the people in the jam band, all four, are indians. it used to be the coolest cultural group to be part of! almost every event there was the chance of a performance from them. i was trying to recall, but i... forgot.... the name of our once popular band haha. oops. well, the old jam band was kinda disbanded because this is a school afterall and people tend to move on with their lives once it's over. and i don't know what happened to our juniors' one, i thought they were doing ok, but maybe things are just different without the more multi-talented seniors! hehe! so anyways, the current group... well let's just say our dear yide, wilfred and gang tried to encourage them with loud cheers and applause.

the guys are still sticky to each other like mad. haha. they had to sit so close together during the event, and of all places, in the middle row of stairs at the amphi-theatre. in the order of left to right: top row, jeremy, yide, bruno. bottom row, roland, christopher, wilfred, leonard. attention seekers like they always are haha. another funny thing, jorwe always seem to be coming back from somewhere else, there's always this pattern.

wilfred went to take mooncakes on our behalf and came back with a plate-full. he gave them out and bluffed that there's ice cream mooncake, just because it was from haagen dazs. erm. hehe. jorwe really believed. the look on his face, so happy like that haha. yide and jeremy kept talking about stuff they seen on youtube. imitated the voices and the conversations, so crappy... one other clown, bruno, he took the whole tray of pomegranate and started eating. it was quite dry, some of them were saying. o.. k... while people could cut the mooncake into proper quarters or eights, that jeremy, dono why, cut the yolk mooncake til the yolk fell apart and all over! hahaha then the usual blaming noises: "OOOi... jeremy... what you doing...." nobody dared to eat after that la! still the same, always doing funny stuff. that's why it's fun to be with them. it's ok to be stupid in the group, they will still love each other. =) yihan was there too, but he came quite late, and we were leaving already haha.

must put up pictures we took. - reminder reminder.

beautiful weekend

it's been a super-power-terrific-happening-great weekend! not only did i not need to think or do any work, i had lotsa pure fun! friday night, i played 4 full hours of 'the longest journey', a super old adventure game, graphics not as perfect as those we now have, but the storyline just keeps making you ask for more. ooh magic! but then the computer was reformatted and everything is gone so i have to replay the four hours again... someday.. dang! oh well, it's worth it, i don mind. HAHA!

saturday i went out with the cheerobics people, well, only 5 of us made it, and we ate at New York New York. i tell you... the portion of each plate was HUGE! the meatball was HUMONGOUS. after i ate one meatball, i left the other sitting on the plate, i simply gave up! haha.. but we really just ordered what we want and enjoyed to the fullest, and i mean it literally as well, so full after all that buffalo wings, calamari, root beer float, spagetti, ribs, fish & chips, salmon salad, and finally chocolate fondue! am i making you drool yet? *giggle*

after that we caught 'you, me and dupree'. i would never have wanted to watch it. but surprisingly, it was quite a nice show! it wasn't absolutely disgusting and dumb or stupid. there were some nice qualities about the storyline and it was actually quite interesting. although a stupid character owen wilson was, he was still kind-hearted, just only too straight forward and uncontrollable so things became chaotic for the newly-weds played by kate hudson and matt dillon. haha in the end you will realise you don't know whose side you're on --- the clutsy Dupree, or the husband Carl. the show also brings across the message that sometimes people get so preoccupied with what they want not realising they lose their whole intention of doing things that way in the end. not bad not bad.

sunday was shopping day and i just shopped and shopped, walked all around town. why do they not have sale when you have time to shop?? bleh. everything's so expensive and i'm way too broke. so only can see, and only buy what i can afford and need. finally got my yelloo polo-t! so yummy!

bits and pieces

just here to waste some precious time that i wasn't suppose to waste. i'm rebellious.

you know.. i'm actually kinda sad that my-day wasn't celebrated at all this year. maybe the one on the lunar calender would be celebrated like my mum keeps saying, but i'm not going to believe the adults anymore. it's almost passed one month now. but i guess if there are good my-days, there'll always be sad my-days too. it's the balance of life. these things gets forgotten quite often anyway, so it's really no big deal when you think about it.

recently moved into hostel again. the new one just completed construction last year. facilities are overboard, in my opinion. firstly, is it really necessary to have so many different types of taps for the sink? there's the press once and water flows for a while ones, the turn the handle and water keeps running ones, and even the sensor ones?! and then, every shower cubicle has it's own heater! in my previous hall, the toilet with only 2 shower and toilet cubicles share a heater. i guess we can tell how large the toilet in the new hall is already. this whole building is handicap-friendly. so ya, there are lifts. rooms are spacious, the fan is powerful enough. and the keys... are cards. super convenient. *flash flash flash* haha! if i weren't so caught up with work i would have enjoyed my stay here. no time or enegry left to socialize. my roommate's German. cool huh.

i wanna play and have fun outside!!! my life feels like it's going into the dark side. i don't wanna do anymore work! this weekend, just fun, no work! i don't care!

iris tan. we're coming to get you once u get your butt landed in singapore.
