first post for 2007... in april.
o.g. to think that my last post was about christmas?! argh! Let's see...
Week 1 of attachment job (8 - 12 Jan): Decided that i've really wasted my life by getting lousy grades for uni application. architects are >>>>> than engineers. professor's words came true, "...you might be tested on your bending moment diagram...". thank goodness for my FYP, i had some practice.
Week 2 of attachment job (15 - 19 Jan): Foundation design. don't remember most of the formulae or rules. luckily Lai was a friendly engineer. and my "xi-fu" (kung-fu master).
Week 3 (22 - 26 Jan): Getting to know the engineers better. there are the 3 musketeers: Lai, Tan, and Cheque Chau. haha don ask me why his name's spelled like that, i dono. some of the younger engineers around. we all clubbed tgt twice. the receptionist koria was quite scary in the beginning, but actually she's a really nice lady. we share our office with our drafters too. all very motherly and fatherly. nice, cosy family working together closely.
Week 4 (29 - 2 Feb): So soon Jan was over. and cny was in 3 weeks time. cny mood lingering in the office and in town.
Week 5 - week 9: Learn to design flat slabs, beams, columns, etc. Learn to use programs like safe, topcad, c-sect, prokon, tedds, staadpro, etc. During cny period, big boss invited us to his place, it was an annual family gathering event, all the engineers' kids weren't even strangers to anybody.
Week 10 (12 - 16 Mar): IA ntu tutor came to check on us. it was a nerve-wrecking wait for the afternoon to come where he would "interview" us one-by-one. turns out we were thinking too much, he was super friendly and really just wanted to know how we were doing.
Week 11 and 12: Been doing pilecap design and making lots of errors. more geotech stuff to remember. should really start sending out resumes!!
At present: My 3-day week! haha! took leave so tmr's my final day of work this week. actually so i wouldn't be tired at night.
i was just told a school mate of mine just gave birth. yea no typo and not kidding. she was recently married to a chef. shit. that's like MY dream, marrying a chef! some people just get to fulfill their dreams of having a stable income and family so soon. Study like hell up til now still jobless, must make money, pay back the loan used for uni, by then still not enough money, only finally settling down when we're already very old.
